A 77-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed inside her home in Limassol during the early hours of the morning, according to the Police. Jewellery and a mobile telephone were reported stolen, and the victim was taken to hospital with head injuries.
Incident and police response
Police said that at 1.30am officers responded to information received and attended the residence, where they found the 77-year-old at the front door with a head injury.
According to the complainant, two power cuts occurred while she was asleep. She left her home to check the electricity switch and, upon returning for the second time, noticed that one bedroom was in disarray.
Alleged assault and injuries
The woman reported that an unknown man then appeared with his face covered by a black hood. She stated that he struck her on the head and removed two gold chains she was wearing around her neck, as well as her mobile phone.
The 77-year-old was transported by ambulance to a private hospital in Limassol, where she was found to have sustained a laceration and abrasions to the head. She was admitted for further precautionary treatment.
The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department continues its examinations.
