28-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Road Collision in Nicosia

Police investigate fatal crash in Engomi as driver arrested to assist inquiries.

A 28-year-old motorcyclist died following a road collision that occurred at around 22:20 on Friday in Nicosia. The victim, Andreas Antoniou from Nicosia, lost his life when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car driven by a 23-year-old woman.

According to police, the collision occurred under circumstances that are currently under investigation on Griva Digeni Avenue in Engomi. The motorcyclist, who according to police was wearing a protective helmet, was transported by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where the doctor on duty confirmed his death.

Driver arrested to assist investigations

The driver of the car underwent both alcohol and drug tests, which returned negative results. She was subsequently arrested under a court warrant to facilitate police investigations.

Appeal for information

The Nicosia Traffic Department continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision and is calling on anyone with information about the incident to contact Nicosia Traffic Police, the Citizen Communication Line at 1460, or the nearest police station.
