A bus driver is in serious condition after being attacked by a passenger on Sunday, in an incident that highlights growing safety concerns on public transport.
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear. Both the driver and the passenger were taken to a police station following the incident, but no arrests were made. According to police information cited by Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, both individuals filed complaints alleging they were assaulted.
The SEK trade union has called for immediate protective measures, warning of increasing risks faced by public transport workers.
The latest incident marks the tenth serious case of violence against professional bus drivers in the past two years.
