The first hues of white have been fondly witnessed on the highest reaches of the Troodos mountains, as light snow emerged out of the Byron Depression, a hopeful yet slight winter early Christmas sign, with the phenomenon gradually easing from tonight onwards.
A Met Office yellow warning does remain in place until 1830 early this evening (Sunday), as severe isolated storms and hail are expected initially across the west and then affecting most of the island. Strong winds will be picking up in the areas of the storms, with rainfall reaching 35-55 millimetres per hour.
Here's the forecast
Overcast skies will bring local showers and isolated storms. Winds will be light to moderate southeasterly to southwesterly, strong in the areas of the storms, over moderate seas. Temperatures will reach 19 degrees Celsius inland and in coastal regions, with 8 over the mountains.
A possibility of isolated storms this evening mainly around the coasts, with light to moderate winds, over mostly slight seas. Temperatures will drop to 9 degrees Celsius inland, 12 along the coast and 4 on the mountains, with frost expected.
Showers will happily persist until Wednesday, as temperatures remain below the seasonal average.
