Hazardous conditions are being recorded across the national networks today, both intercity and rural, but mostly on mountainous regions due to sleet and water accumulation, with police calling on drivers to exercise the utmost caution.

Beyond rain related problems, heavy showers have caused both rock and landslides both on certain motorway areas as well as a number of provincial roads at higher altitudes, with thick fog on Troodos, severely limiting visibility.

'Maintain low speeds, keep your distance from vehicles ahead, have your hazard lights on at all times and avoid waterlogged parts of roads,' the traffic department noted.

Rock and landslides were reported late this morning on the Limassol-Paphos motorway, near the exits to the Sotira and Paramali communities, the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway, near the Lympia-Athienou exits, as well as the Evrihou-Kakopetria-Karvouna, Kakopetria-Pinewood-Pedhoulas and Pedhoulas-Kykkos-Kampos-Orkontas roads.
