Weekend Warm‑Up Comes with Dust and Rain

A weak high pressure system is giving way to low pressure, bringing cloudier skies, suspended dust from Friday and local showers that may develop into isolated thunderstorms before conditions ease on Sunday.

With temperatures forecast to rise over the weekend, the weather pattern begins to change gradually from today. The temporary influence of a weak high pressure system is giving way to weak low pressure. Cloud cover will increase and from Friday light dust will be suspended in the atmosphere at intervals. Local showers are expected and isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out through Saturday.

Detailed forecast 

A weak high pressure system is affecting the area temporarily but will gradually be replaced by weak low pressure, according to the Meteorological Service. From Friday, light dust will be present in the atmosphere at intervals.

Today, Thursday, the weather will be mainly clear at first but will gradually become mostly cloudy with medium and high cloud. Winds will be north‑easterly to south‑easterly, light at force 3 and moderate at force 4 in windward areas. The sea will be slightly rough. Temperatures will rise to around 19 degrees inland and on the coasts and 12 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly cloudy with medium and high cloud. Winds will be north‑easterly to south‑easterly, light to moderate at force 3 to 4 and temporarily strong at force 5 in windward areas. The sea will be slightly rough, becoming rough in the south‑west. Temperatures will fall to 11 degrees inland, around 14 degrees on the coasts and 6 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Friday and Saturday, the weather will be mostly cloudy at intervals with local showers expected from time to time. A thunderstorm cannot be excluded.

On Sunday, the weather will be partly cloudy at intervals.

Temperatures will drop slightly on Friday then gradually rise over the weekend, reaching above the seasonal average.
