Cloudy Spells and Scattered Showers to Persist Mid-Week

Localised rainfall is expected to persist through the week, with temperatures hovering near or slightly below seasonal averages and the possibility of frost in higher mountain areas overnight.

A weak low-pressure system is influencing the region, bringing intermittently cloudy skies and the possibility of isolated showers, mainly to areas south of Troodos.

Today's conditions

Periods of locally increased cloud cover are expected throughout Monday, with scattered showers possible primarily in areas south of Troodos. Winds will blow initially from the northwest to northeast at light to moderate strength, 3 to 4 Beaufort, before shifting to mainly southwest to northwest later in the day, remaining light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, with locally strong gusts of 5 Beaufort along the southern coast. The sea will be slight to moderate. Temperatures will reach around 22 degrees Celsius inland and along the coast, and around 10 degrees in the higher mountain areas.

Tonight

Conditions will be mainly clear overnight. Winds will blow predominantly from the northwest, light and occasionally locally moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to moderate. Temperatures will drop to around 10 degrees inland, around 11 degrees along the coast, and as low as 3 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost is locally expected to form.

The days ahead

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, periods of locally increased cloud cover are forecast, with isolated showers possible around midday, mainly in mountainous areas. Temperatures on Tuesday will rise slightly, settling near or just below seasonal averages, with no significant change expected on Wednesday or Thursday.
