A total of 14 projects have secured €234,944 in funding under the 2026 Culture Programme supporting film activities by organisations and groups of individuals, the Deputy Ministry of Culture Cyprus said on Thursday.

Eighteen applications were submitted this year, of which 17 were deemed valid. Fourteen projects scored at least 70 points and qualified for funding, according to the ministry.

Fostering cooperation and peace

The scheme supports initiatives aimed at strengthening film education, expanding public access to screenings and festivals, promoting innovative cultural activities, and offering professional training through lectures and workshops. It also backs efforts to promote cinema culture outside major cities and to organise bicommunal and intercultural activities fostering cooperation and peace.

Funding allocations were based on the programme’s evaluation criteria, the ministry said.
