Pop superstar Harry Styles surprised fans and distance-running enthusiasts by completing the Berlin Marathon on Sunday in 2 hours, 59 minutes and 13 seconds, a standout sub-three-hour performance. The 31-year-old singer, formerly of One Direction, was among roughly 55,000 participants on a course widely regarded as one of the fastest in the world.
Running under an alias
Styles is reported to have competed under the alias “Stent Sarantos,” wearing a headband and sunglasses as he crossed the line in under three hours. The story was first reported by local newspaper Der Tagesspiegel, with organisers later confirming the news to dpa.
Spotted training, photo at the finish
Der Tagesspiegel noted that Styles had already been seen running in Berlin ahead of Sunday’s race. At the finish, he was photographed with Richard Whitehead, the double Paralympic gold medallist over 200 metres, who is attempting 20 marathons this year and shared the image on Instagram.
