The Deputy Ministry of Culture, through its Department of Contemporary Culture, has announced the launch of a new Grants Scheme for the Translation of Cypriot Literature into Foreign Languages aimed at boosting the international visibility of Cypriot writing.
The initiative seeks to support the translation, publication and promotion of works by Cypriot authors in foreign languages, helping introduce Cyprus' literary heritage to wider international audiences.
According to the ministry, the scheme forms part of a broader strategy to support books and literature while strengthening the global presence of Cypriot cultural production.
Promoting Cypriot literature abroad
The programme is designed to contribute to the promotion of Cyprus' culture overseas and enhance the international reach of both contemporary and classic literary works from the island.
The ministry noted that Cyprus possesses a rich and diverse literary tradition expressed through different languages, voices and cultural experiences.
Translation, it said, serves as a vital bridge between cultures, enabling the work of Cypriot writers to cross linguistic boundaries, enter new publishing markets and reach readers around the world.
The scheme also aims to encourage greater collaboration between Cypriot authors, foreign publishers and international book professionals.
