Number of Unemployed Rises to 10,585 in April

Seasonally adjusted data show a further rise in registered unemployment in April, according to figures from the Statistical Service.

The number of unemployed persons recorded a further increase in April 2026, according to data published on Wednesday by the Statistical Service.

Based on records kept at the District Labour Offices, the number of registered unemployed at the end of April 2026 amounted to 8,962 persons. Based on seasonally adjusted data, which reflect unemployment trends, the number of registered unemployed in April 2026 rose to 10,585 persons, compared with 10,316 in the previous month.

Compared with April 2025, an increase of 844 persons, or 10.4%, was recorded. This increase is attributed mainly to the sectors of accommodation and food service activities, administrative and support service activities, transport, and professional, scientific and technical activities.
