48-hour strike by Lufthansa pilots began at midnight, with passengers facing flight cancellations and delays today and tomorrow across the airline’s network.

The industrial action was called by the Vereinigung Cockpit pilots’ union, which represents pilots working at Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo and CityLine.

Multiple Lufthansa divisions affected

According to the union, Eurowings pilots are also participating in the strike for today only, expanding the impact on the airline group’s operations.

Flights to the Middle East have been excluded from the strike, due to the tense security situation in the region.

Fourth strike round this year

The latest industrial action marks the fourth round of strikes this year, as negotiations continue over a new collective labour agreement for pilots.

The dispute follows a strike by cabin crew on Friday, which resulted in hundreds of flight cancellations across Lufthansa’s network.
