Kremlin assurances during Trump–Putin call
Speaking to CNBC on Tuesday, Witkoff said Russian officials had told Trump that Moscow is not providing Tehran with information related to US military positions or capabilities.
The issue was discussed during a phone conversation between the US and Russian leaders on Monday, which lasted about one hour.
The statement comes amid growing concerns in Washington over reports suggesting possible intelligence exchanges between Russia and Iran during the ongoing regional tensions.
Washington keeps diplomatic channel open with Tehran
Witkoff also noted that President Trump remains open to dialogue with Iran, though he questioned whether Tehran is genuinely seeking a diplomatic outcome.
“I think the President is always willing to talk,” Witkoff said. “But the question is whether it will be productive or not.”
He added that current indications suggest Iran may not be pursuing a diplomatic resolution. “Do they really want a diplomatic solution here? So far, the evidence suggests they do not,” he said.
