Fire at Luxury Dubai Hotel After Iranian Regional Strikes

A fire broke out at a luxury hotel on Palm Jumeirah after Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for what it described as a “massive” and ongoing attack by the United States and Israel. Four people were injured, according to Dubai authorities.

Video verified by the BBC shows flames and thick black smoke rising from the waterfront property. Authorities said the blaze occurred in a building in the Palm Jumeirah area and was brought under control. No further details were provided on the cause of the fire.

Official response in Dubai

Dubai authorities confirmed that four individuals were injured in the incident. The statement did not specify the extent of the injuries or whether the building sustained structural damage.

Missile interceptions across Gulf states

Elsewhere, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait reported intercepting missiles fired towards their territories. All four countries host United States military bases.

In Bahrain, large plumes of smoke were seen rising near the headquarters of the United States Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Manama. The extent of any damage remains unclear and the US has not commented.

In Doha, Qatar’s defence ministry said several missiles were intercepted, apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest US military base in the region.

Iran has said the strikes were carried out in response to ongoing attacks by the United States and Israel.
