Middle East War: Death Toll Rises During the First Days of Conflict

Initial figures indicate more than 1,700 deaths across several countries as the conflict between Israel, Iran and their allies continues.

A first preliminary assessment of casualties has emerged from the war in the Middle East during the first nine days of fighting.

According to BBC reporting, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, said on Friday that 1,332 civilians have been killed as a result of American and Israeli attacks since the start of the war.

Casualties reported in Lebanon

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported that 394 people have been killed, including 83 children and 42 women, amid ongoing hostilities linked to the regional escalation.

Deaths and injuries in Israel

In Israel, the emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) said 10 people have been killed since the start of the military campaign against Iran.

Israel’s Ministry of Health also reported that, as of 07:00 today1,929 people have been injured and transported to hospitals since 28 February. Authorities noted that not all those affected by missile attacks have sought or received medical treatment.

US military losses and regional casualties

According to the Pentagon, six American soldiers were killed in an Iranian drone attack on a US military base in Kuwait last Sunday.

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence reported four fatalities, while Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior announced the deaths of two soldiers and two border guards.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Health also said that a young girl was killed by falling debris during the attacks.

Fatality reported in Bahrain

In Bahrain, the Ministry of Interior announced last week that one worker was killed after being struck by falling fragments linked to the conflict.
