Former President of the Republic and Honorary President of DISY, Nicos Anastasiades, has announced he will voluntarily absent himself from sessions of the party's collective bodies until, as he put it, "the truth prevails" regarding the allegations attributed to him. In a written statement, Anastasiades said he had communicated his decision directly to DISY President Annita Demetriou.
Protecting the party he co-founded
Anastasiades framed the decision as an act of protection toward the party he co-founded and served for 50 years. "I will not allow anyone to believe that the party can be harmed," he said.
