Limassol hoteliers' expectations of last-minute bookings appear to be confirmed, with occupancy reaching last year's levels and August occupancy hovering around 90%, the President of PASYXE Limassol, Christos Tsanos, told CNA.
A reversal from earlier concerns
On 23 June, Tsanos had told CNA he was optimistic about a reversal of the climate created by the neighbouring war in Iran, following the revision of several countries' travel advisories. At the time, he had said he expected occupancy rates to be considerably better over the summer months than initially projected, while cautioning that "three months don't save an entire year."
Bookings matching 2025 levels
In his latest statement, Tsanos said "the characteristic of this year is last-minute bookings, and the data confirms our statements from late June," adding that "August is moving at the same booking levels as August 2025."
Booking levels across the city and district of Limassol are around 90% for August, he said, noting the figure was reinforced during the week of 10-17 August, driven by bookings from domestic tourism.
Pricing held close to last year's levels
On hotel pricing, Tsanos said prices had largely been kept in line with last year, with any increases capped at 5%, which he described as "a good tactic to help both the local tourist and others interested in returning to our city."
He also noted that Limassol primarily serves tourists in a higher income bracket with elevated expectations, which requires hoteliers to "keep service standards high."
