Plan aims to modernise social welfare services and improve response to citizens’ needs.

Social Welfare Services are entering a process of modernisation following an agreement signed between the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare and consultancy firm KPMG.

The agreement, signed on 18 May 2026 after an open tender, forms part of a broader effort to upgrade the organisation, operations and working methods of the services, which are a key pillar of the welfare state.

The project includes an evaluation of the existing strategy, programmes and services, as well as a review of best practices from other countries. It will result in proposals aimed at improving efficiency and overall performance.

The Deputy Ministry described the agreement as a significant milestone, stating that the goal is to enhance the ability of services to respond to citizens’ needs through more modern and effective processes.

The initiative marks a wider effort to reorganise Social Welfare Services, with a focus on strengthening effectiveness and improving the quality of social care provided.
