Cyprus Police will step up road safety measures over the Kataklysmos three-day weekend, from Saturday 30 May to Monday 1 June, with the protection and safety of the public as the stated priority.
According to a police announcement, the measures include a heightened presence of Traffic Department officers on motorways, inter-urban roads and major arterial routes across the island. Intensive enforcement checks will focus in particular on violations known to contribute to fatal and serious road collisions, including excessive speed and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
With significantly higher traffic volumes expected on the road network over the holiday period, police are urging drivers to exercise particular caution, to comply with the Highway Code and road signs, and to follow the instructions of officers on duty.
