Farmers are set to take to the streets on Friday in protest at the culling of animals linked to the foot-and-mouth outbreak, with police putting security measures and traffic arrangements in place across Nicosia.

The protest is scheduled for the morning, with participants expected to gather around 10:00 near the GSP stadium before marching towards the Presidential Palace. The procession is expected to reach its destination approximately one hour later.

Farmers are demanding an end to the culling measures implemented as part of efforts to control the outbreak, warning that the actions are having devastating consequences for the sector.

In a statement, police said officers will be present throughout the protest to ensure safety, maintain order and facilitate traffic.

Authorities have also urged both participants and the public to follow the instructions of officers on duty.
