Police and the Aliens and Immigration Service arrested 40 third-country nationals in Limassol on Sunday as part of an operation targeting irregular migration.
In a statement, police said the operation was carried out on Sunday morning under the coordination of the headquarters of the Aliens and Immigration Service.
During the operation, 40 people were identified and arrested for residing unlawfully in the Republic of Cyprus.
Police said six of those arrested were expected to be deported later on Sunday.
Procedures are also under way for the remaining detainees, in cooperation with the Deputy Ministry of Migration, with the aim of their immediate deportation from the Republic of Cyprus and repatriation to their countries of origin.
