The Limassol District Administration has so far received reports of 16 cases of damage linked to the extreme weather that struck the island last Saturday, Limassol District Officer Michalis Michael told CNA.
According to Mr Michael, "over the weekend no serious damage had been reported except for one case in Kantou, where part of the roof of a livestock facility was torn off."
However, he added that "from yesterday, Monday, until today, we have seen a flow of incidents and so far we have recorded 16 cases," clarifying that most involve damage to roofs, including dislodged tiles, solar water-heating systems and water tanks, while two cases involve damage to vehicles.
He said that where damage concerns structural elements of a property, assessment responsibility lies with the District Administration. If the damage relates to photovoltaic systems, mechanical installations or vehicles, responsibility falls to the Department of Electromechanical Services.
Noting that all reported cases to date concern communities within the district, Mr Michael reminded affected residents that the deadline for submitting claims is September 7.
