Apple’s first foldable phone went on sale in Cyprus on Friday 23 October, with a starting price of €2,349. Several versions were already showing as sold out on major retailers’ websites on launch day, and some stores are limiting buyers to one device per customer. The iPhone Duo marks one of the biggest changes to the iPhone’s design since it was first unveiled in 2007.
Launch and pre-orders
The iPhone Duo was officially presented on 9 September 2026, with pre-orders opening on 16 October. According to the official distributor of Apple products in Cyprus, sales in the Cypriot market began at 8am on Friday.

The device is Apple’s first entry into the foldable smartphone market, where manufacturers such as Samsung, Huawei and Honor are already active. Unlike conventional iPhones, the new model opens like a book, turning the phone into a device with a larger display area.
Two screens and new features
The iPhone Duo has a 5.4-inch OLED outer screen, which allows it to be used as a conventional phone when closed. When opened, it reveals a 7.6-inch foldable inner screen, the largest ever used in an iPhone.

The larger screen allows users, among other things, to run apps simultaneously, watch video and work in two windows. The iOS 27 operating system has been adapted to the new format, so that content moves and adjusts depending on whether the phone is open or closed.
The key specifications are:
- Processor: A20 Pro
- Cameras: dual 48-megapixel system
- Battery: dual battery architecture
- Frame: titanium
- Thickness when open: 5.2mm
- Weight: 254g
Prices in Cyprus
Prices in the Cypriot market vary according to storage capacity:
- 256GB: €2,349
- 512GB: €2,599
- 1TB: €3,099
- 2TB: €3,849
The phone is available in two colours, Star White and Night Sky. It is already listed in the catalogues of Cypriot technology retailers and mobile network operators.
Availability in Cyprus
Availability of the iPhone Duo in Cyprus appeared limited on its first day on sale. A check by Politis of major technology retailers’ websites found that several versions were already out of stock, while others showed limited availability. Some stores are also restricting purchases to one device per customer.

The phone is already on display in technology stores in Cyprus, allowing customers to see it in person. In some cases, however, it is not available for immediate purchase, as priority is being given to customers who pre-ordered.
According to information obtained by Politis, one retailer is allowing new customers to join a waiting list, with estimated delivery in November.
Availability and delivery times vary by store and model. No figures are available on the number of devices allocated to the Cypriot market, so it is not known whether the shortages reflect high demand or limited initial supply.
Delays worldwide
Limited availability has also been recorded internationally. According to Reuters, estimated delivery dates moved to late January 2027, about three months later, within minutes of pre-orders opening on 16 October.

In the United States, all versions of the device showed delays. Apple confirmed that only a limited number of unitswould be available for walk-in purchase in physical stores on launch day.
Strong interest has been recorded particularly in China, while queues formed outside stores in Australia. It remains unclear to what extent the delays are due to the volume of orders or to limited initial production.
