Police have arrested four people aged between 18 and 22 in connection with two cases of assault and theft in the Famagusta district.
The four suspects appeared before the Famagusta District Court on Thursday, which ordered that they remain in custody for four days.
Two women report separate attacks
The two cases were reported to police by women aged 30 and 33.
According to the first complaint, the 30-year-old woman was on a road in the Famagusta district on 1 September when she was allegedly attacked by people she did not know, who stole her bag.
The second incident occurred at around 6.15 am on 2 September and involved a 33-year-old woman.
She told police that she was at a bus stop in the Famagusta district when she was attacked by people she did not know, who allegedly struck her and stole her bag.
Four suspects remanded
The 33-year-old was taken to Famagusta General Hospital, where she was found to have sustained a knee injury. She was treated and later discharged.
During the investigation, police obtained evidence against two 18-year-olds, a 20-year-old and a 22-year-old. All four were arrested under court warrants.
They appeared before the Famagusta District Court on Thursday morning and were remanded in custody for four days.
The case is being investigated by Ayia Napa Police Station.
