CyCEM – Insights brings together data across all segments of the competitive electricity market

The Cyprus Institute has launched a new online platform aimed at improving transparency and access to data in Cyprus’ competitive electricity market.

The platform, named CyCEM – Insights, was unveiled on June 24 and is designed to collect, organise and present electricity market data in a coherent and user-friendly format, the Institute said in a statement.

CyCEM – Insights aggregates publicly available data across all market segments, including the forward market, the day-ahead market and balancing markets, namely the Integrated Scheduling Process and the Real-Time Balancing Market.

The Institute said the platform addresses a key information gap by bringing together data that had previously been dispersed, making it easier for users to understand market developments.

It provides visualisations, summary indicators, structured datasets and export functions, allowing users to analyse electricity prices, trading volumes, the generation mix, the share of renewable energy sources and system balancing metrics.

Users can also download selected datasets for further analysis.

“Our open platform, which includes all officially available data from the Cypriot competitive electricity market, fills an important gap,” said Professor Theodoros Zachariadis of the Cyprus Institute.

“It serves as a practical information hub that enhances transparency and facilitates data-driven energy analysis,” he added.

The platform was developed by specialists with expertise in energy markets and aims to support informed participation by stakeholders, while contributing to evidence-based public debate on Cyprus’ electricity sector, Zachariadis said.
