Fuel prices in Cyprus increased by 18.7% in June 2026 compared with June 2025, according to figures released by Eurostat.
Across the European Union, prices for fuels and lubricants used in personal transport rose by an average of 13.7% year-on-year in June, down from annual increases of 20.7% in May and 20.8% in April.
Cyprus among highest increases
Fuel and lubricant prices continued to increase across all EU member states in June compared with a year earlier, although at a slower pace than in May.
The largest annual increases were recorded in:
- Bulgaria: +26.0%
- Lithuania: +23.5%
- Romania: +23.1%
- Finland: +22.0%
- Luxembourg: +20.7%
Cyprus recorded an increase of 18.7%, placing it among the countries with the highest annual rises.
The lowest increases were reported in:
- Hungary: +2.3%
- Poland: +5.8%
Other member states recorded increases ranging from 7.9% in Spain to 18.6% in Cyprus.
Diesel and petrol prices fell from May
On a monthly basis, EU consumers saw fuel prices ease in June.
Compared with May 2026:
- Diesel prices fell by 6.4%
- Petrol prices fell by 4.2%
In May, diesel prices had already declined by 5.8%, while petrol prices had risen slightly by 0.8% compared with April.
Cyprus among few countries with petrol increase
Between May and June 2026, diesel prices declined in every EU member state.
The largest decreases were recorded in:
- Czechia: -11.3%
- Poland: -9.7%
- Bulgaria: -9.4%
The smallest declines were seen in:
- Hungary: -0.6%
- Italy: -1.4%
- Slovenia: -1.6%
For petrol prices, Cyprus (+0.7%) and Italy (+0.5%) were the only EU countries to record monthly increases between May and June.
Elsewhere, petrol prices fell, with the largest declines recorded in:
- Sweden: -7.8%
- Belgium: -7.0%
- Poland: -6.6%
