Construction activity in Cyprus is expected to remain strong in the coming months, according to statistics on building permits issued up to the end of April 2026.
During the January-April 2026 period, 2,915 building permits were issued, compared with 2,157 during the corresponding period of the previous year, representing an increase of 35.1%.
The total value of these permits increased by 46.1%, reaching €1.7 billion.
The total floor area covered by the permits also rose significantly, increasing by 45.5% to 1.5 million square metres.
Meanwhile, the number of housing units authorised recorded an even stronger increase of 65.0%, rising to 7,131 units from 4,321 during the same period in 2025.
April figures
In April 2026, a total of 639 building permits were issued, an increase of 10.7% compared with the same month a year earlier.
The permits issued during the month had:
- A total value of €413 million.
- A total floor area of 335,300 square metres.
- Provision for the construction of 1,728 residential units.
The figures point to continued momentum in Cyprus' construction sector and a notable increase in residential development activity.
