The Department of Meteorology has issued an extreme-temperature alert for Wednesday, 26 August, as inland areas face intense afternoon heat. Members of the public, particularly those in vulnerable groups, are advised to take protective measures.
Warning hours and forecast
The maximum temperature is expected to rise to around 40C in inland areas.
The yellow warning will take effect at 1.30pm and remain in force until 4pm on Wednesday.
