Christodoulides Challenges Fidias Over ‘Eight Missed Calls’ Claim

The President questioned Panayiotou’s account during an on-camera exchange before the National Council meeting.

 

President Nikos Christodoulides and Direct Democracy leader Fidias Panayiotou were caught on camera discussing Panayiotou’s claim that he had received eight missed calls from the President while in Brazil.

The brief exchange took place at the Presidential Palace on Monday, shortly before the National Council meeting, which Panayiotou attended as his party’s representative.

President disputes number of calls

According to footage published by alphanews.live, Christodoulides questioned Panayiotou’s account of the calls.

Panayiotou then said there had been seven calls, prompting the President to respond: “I know how many times I called you.”

Panayiotou had previously said in a party video and podcast that he woke up while in Brazil to find eight missed calls from Christodoulides.
