Makarios Drousiotis has responded to statements by the woman behind the pseudonym “Santi”, focusing on the origin and authenticity of the disputed messages.
In a social media post, he addressed her claim that the mobile phone she had used was lost, as well as her challenge for his own devices to be examined.
“The evidence has already begun to speak. It is strange that her mobile phone was ‘lost’, but the computer still exists. The one which, according to her, ‘if it is ever investigated, there will be tears’,” Drousiotis wrote.
He also referred to statements published and attributed to Santi.
“Mr Kalantzis published statements which he attributes to Santi, whom he himself has repeatedly described as a mythomaniac. To the extent that the statements do indeed come from her and not from a third party speaking on her behalf, I will respond to her challenge for my devices to be examined,” he said.
How Drousiotis says he received the messages
Drousiotis said his devices contain no evidence showing the route through which the disputed messages reached him, adding that how he obtained them was not a secret.
“There is nothing on my devices about the route taken by the messages, nor is it a secret how they reached me. They were given to me on a USB drive and in printouts. More important than the route are the authenticity, the primary source and the verification of the messages’ content,” he wrote.
He also endorsed Santi’s reported call for the evidence to be examined.
“The closing message attributed to Santi is, ‘Let the evidence speak’. I agree with her entirely. That is also in her hands. It is strange that her mobile phone was ‘lost’, but the computer still exists. The one which, according to her, ‘if it is ever investigated, there will be tears’.”
Examinations of digital material under way
Drousiotis said examinations of devices and other digital material were continuing with financial support from members of the public.
“On my side, I am working in that direction. Examinations of devices and other digital material are under way thanks to the financial support of citizens, whom I thank once again,” he said.
“The evidence has already begun to speak and is disproving the police scenario and her own account that she fabricated the messages alone and that their content is a product of her imagination.”
Reference to criminal proceedings
Drousiotis said he could not disclose further details because of criminal proceedings which, according to him, are under way against him.
“I cannot reveal more, since the Police and the Legal Service, instead of investigating the case as they should have done, chose to prosecute me,” he concluded.
