Two US Navy jets collided in mid-air during an air show in Idaho on Sunday, sending both aircraft crashing to the ground after all four crew members ejected safely.
The incident happened during the Gunfighter Skies Air Show at Mountain Home Air Force Base, about 50 miles south of Boise. The aircraft were identified as E/A-18G Growlers from Electronic Attack Squadron 129, based at Whidbey Island in Washington state.
Video recorded by spectators showed the two jets coming into contact during the aerial demonstration before catching fire and crashing. Four parachutes could be seen deploying moments before impact.
Commander Amelia Umayam, a spokesperson for US Pacific Fleet naval aviation, said all four crew members ejected safely. Officials said the crews were in stable condition after the crash.
The remaining part of the air show was cancelled and the base was placed under safety restrictions as emergency crews responded to the crash site. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
