President Donald Trump has announced new tariffs of up to 100% on imported drones and drone components

US President Donald Trump on Thursday signed a presidential proclamation imposing tariffs of up to 100% on imported drones and drone components, a market currently dominated by Chinese manufacturers.

According to the proclamation released by the White House, the measures are aimed at strengthening domestic production and reducing US dependence on foreign suppliers of unmanned aerial systems.

Trump justified the move on national security grounds, arguing that the United States must lessen its reliance on imported drone technologies.

Under the new measures, tariffs on certain imported drones and related components will reach 100%, while smaller drones will face tariffs of 25%.

The announcement marks a further escalation in trade tensions between Washington and Beijing and comes amid broader efforts by the Trump administration to boost domestic manufacturing in sectors considered strategically important.
