Russia has claimed it has sold $320.7 billion worth of hydrocarbons to European Union countries since 2022, despite the sanctions imposed on Moscow following its invasion of Ukraine.
Speaking to the state-run Rossiya-24 television channel, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who oversees energy policy, said energy exports to EU member states had remained substantial throughout the period.
"For the period from 2022 to the present, this figure amounts to $320.7 billion. This is the volume of energy resource supplies to the countries of the European Union."
According to Novak, Russian energy supplies to the EU have been worth $21.3 billion so far in 2026 alone.
Diesel exports expected to recover
Commenting on diesel exports, Novak said that following a recent agreement between Moscow and Washington, Russia expects to restore diesel exports to between 3 million and 3.5 million tonnes per month by the end of the year.
He said this would bring shipments back to Russia's typical export volumes.
Global market impact
Novak argued that increased Russian diesel exports would help partially rebalance global supply and demand in energy markets.
The comments come as Russia continues to defend the resilience of its energy sector despite Western sanctions, while the EU pursues efforts to reduce dependence on Russian fossil fuels and diversify energy supplies.
