With parliamentary elections less than three weeks away, two Cypriot civil society organisations are holding a public event to assess how sitting members of parliament have performed and to examine what the vote on 24 May means for the state of democracy in Cyprus.
Oxygen for Democracy and the Centre for Socio-Political Thinking Politeia will host an evening titled "Democracy in Crisis: Evaluating MPs, the Political Landscape and the Upcoming Elections" on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at 6.30pm, at ARTos House in Nicosia.
The programme will include the presentation of a Parliamentary Performance Index, brief interventions from the most productive members of parliament as identified by the index, and two panel discussions focused on the political landscape ahead of the elections. Admission is free, but registration is required.
The event is organised by Oxygen for Democracy and Politeia, with the support of Nomoplatform, the Glafkos Clerides Institute, the Prometheus Research Institute, the Tassos Papadopoulos Centre for Studies, and the EU Presidency Project 5 (EUPP5). It is co-funded by the European Union.
