The new United Nations Secretary-General' Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), Khassim Diagne, arrived in Cyprus on Wednesday, where he said he looks forward to working with all partners on the island.
A UN announcement says that Diagne, has arrived in Cyprus to formally assume his duties.
Diagne succeeds Colin Stewart, who completed his tenure in August 2025.
“I am honoured and grateful to be here in Cyprus as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General. I look forward to working with all our partners across Cyprus," Diagne said, speaking upon his arrival.
Diagne brings more than 25 years of experience in international affairs and senior leadership within the United Nations system, the announcement concludes.
