Russian Embassy Discloses Name of Deceased Employee,

Police said that following an autopsy, foul play has been ruled out and the process is in place to repatriate the body.

The official passed away on Thursday raising concerns during a time of tensions with Moscow.

 

The Russian Embassy in Cyprus has announced the death of an employee in Nicosia through a statement on social media.

The man has been named as A.V.Panov, who passed away on January 8th 2026, taking his own life.

As the Embassy said, this was 'a deeply personal tragedy for his family and friends', adding that his loved ones have been supported and assisted in every way possible.

The Embassy further disclosed that in coordination with the relevant authorities in Cyprus, the necessary arrangements are in motion for the repatriation of his body.

According to police, Panov died by hanging in his office.

Spokesperson Vyronas Vyronos told the Cyprus News Agency that following an autopsy on the body of the deceased, foul play has been ruled out. 

The case is being investigated by the Ayios Dhometios precinct.

The employee's death had raised other concerns during a time of tensions with Moscow and as police are still also searching for a Russian businessman who went missing in Pissouri last week.
