The InPeace: Inclusive Peacebuilding research project will hold its first public information session in Nicosia later this month, seeking to raise awareness about the work, achievements and challenges of the bi-communal Technical Committees operating in Cyprus.

A European-Funded initiative on Inclusive Peacebuilding

The InPeace: Inclusive Peacebuilding project is funded by the European Union under the Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community and is implemented by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Law, Alternative and Innovative Methods (ICLAIM) together with the Human Rights Platform (HRP).

The three-year project focuses on the bi-communal Technical Committees established by Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot community leaders. These committees work across a range of sectors to address practical, day-to-day issues affecting people on the island, while encouraging interaction, cooperation and mutual understanding between the two communities.

First Information Session In Nicosia

The first information session will take place on Thursday, 29 January 2026, from 11:00 to 12:30, at the PRIO Cyprus Centre, located at 52 Arsinois Street, 1010 Nicosia. The session will be held in Greek.

The presentation will be delivered by the project coordinator, Dr Nasia Hadjigeorgiou, and will focus on the activities, achievements and challenges of the bi-communal Technical Committees.

Addressing A Gap In Public Awareness

One of the key findings of the InPeace research is that, despite the important and often impactful work carried out by the Technical Committees, a large part of the Cypriot public remains unfamiliar with their role and contribution.

Against this backdrop, the information session aims to inform journalists, researchers, civil society actors and other opinion shapers, enabling them to further disseminate accurate information about the Technical Committees and their work to the wider public.

Invitation To Dialogue And Engagement

Dr Hadjigeorgiou has extended an open invitation to journalists, academics, civil society organisations and all interested stakeholders to attend the session and engage in dialogue on the role of the Technical Committees in promoting cooperation, trust and sustainable peace in Cyprus.
