A low-pressure system accompanied by a relatively cool air mass is set to affect the region through to Monday, with weak high pressure expected to build from Tuesday.
Today, conditions will be mostly cloudy with localised showers and isolated thunderstorms. Hail may fall during storms, while the highest peaks of the Troodos mountains could see sleet or snowfall.
Thin dust will remain suspended in the atmosphere. Winds will initially be variable and light to moderate, at force 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale, gradually turning south-westerly to westerly at similar strength. Later, winds will strengthen to force 5, becoming locally very strong to near gale force 6 to 7 in windward areas.
The sea will be slight to moderate at first, becoming rough later in the day. Temperatures are expected to reach around 19°C inland and along the coast, and about 10°C in the higher mountains.
