An alert was raised at around 01:00 on Sunday morning in Geroskipou after a fire broke out in four ambulances parked in the car park of a private clinic, with early indications pointing to possible arson.

According to initial information and police reports, the vehicles were parked in very close proximity to one another, a factor that contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.

Fire Service crews rushed to the scene and succeeded in bringing the blaze under control.

The fire caused extensive damage, mainly to the front sections of the ambulances, although a full assessment of the cost has yet to be completed.

Grenade at owner's home

Preliminary findings have not ruled out malicious intent, with authorities continuing investigations throughout the day to determine the exact cause of the fire.

It is noted that the clinic owner was also targeted just days earlier, when unknown individuals threw a defensive hand grenade at his home in the Agia Marinouda area.

A 59-year-old individual has been arrested in connection with that incident. According to police, the grenade attack was preceded by an attempted arson within a short period of time.
