Police Investigating Femicide in Nicosia

The woman died after sustaining a head injury

Nicosia's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is treating the death of 58-year-old Iranian national Afsaneh Mohammadi as a femicide, police announced on Wednesday.

Police said that at around 2:30am a report was received concerning an injured woman at a residence in Nicosia.

The woman, who had sustained a severe head injury, died while being transported by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital.

The scene has been cordoned off for forensic examination. A warrant is expected to be issued for the arrest of a 62-year-old man in connection with the case, to assist with the ongoing investigation.
