Actor Kevin Spacey says his life is now split between hotels and Airbnb properties after losing his luxury home in Baltimore to foreclosure.

In a rare, candid interview with The Telegraph, the two-time Oscar winner described his finances as “not good” and said he “literally has no home”, while stopping short of calling himself homeless.

Spacey, 66, was in Cyprus in recent days for a scheduled live appearance at a Limassol nightclub on 16 November. Photos and videos from the event circulated on social media, with fans lining up for pictures.

Cut off from Hollywood since 2017

Spacey has been effectively frozen out of the film and television industry since 2017, when actor Anthony Rapp accused him of sexual assault dating back several decades. A US civil court later found in Spacey’s favour in that case, but a wave of further allegations cost him major roles, including his dismissal from the hit series House of Cards.

Speaking from Cyprus, Spacey compared his position to Hollywood’s historic “blacklists”, arguing that one powerful ally would be enough to bring him back into the industry. He cited the example of actor Kirk Douglas, who helped restore blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo to work in the 1960s.

Spacey said he hoped that a call from a leading director such as Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino could similarly revive his career.

Legal outcomes and claims of vindication

Despite the continuing controversy, Spacey stressed that he has never been found guilty or held liable in any sexual assault case. He was acquitted by a criminal court in London in 2023, while a case in Massachusetts was dropped in 2019.

He insists that these legal outcomes should carry more weight in how he is treated by the industry and the public.

Cyprus fans focus on the performance

In Limassol, many fans appeared willing to separate the allegations from the actor’s work. One supporter told reporters: “He was acquitted. Is that not enough?”

For now, Spacey remains largely excluded from mainstream film and television, moving from country to country and from one temporary accommodation to another, waiting to see if the call that could reopen the doors of Hollywood will ever come.
