A high pressure system that has persisted across the island over the past week, happily (for most) keeping temperatures on the verge of the early summer 30s, but exacerbating the dramatic drought issue plaguing the country, is now giving way to the exact opposite.
Heavy showers and storms are expected tomorrow, with the only constant of this takeover being a harmful layer of dust, albeit with higher concentrations today. According to the met office, Cyprus will see a massive 10 degree temperature drop, down to 20.
Clear skies today, with high cloud at intervals and strong light to moderate, northeasterly to southeasterly winds, force three to four and in western and northern coastal regions, strong force to five, over slight to moderate seas. Temperatures will rise to 29 degrees Celsius inland, 28 in coastal regions and 23 on the mountains.
Fine tonight with light northerly to northeasterly-southeasterly winds, force three and at intervals moderate force three to four, over calm to slight seas. Temperatures will drop to 14 degrees Celsius inland and in coastal regions and 17 on the mountains.
Wintry scenery tomorrow with isolated showers and storms expected mainly in the north, the northwest and the east, as well as over the mountains. Hail is possible in the areas of the storms.
Same outlook on Tuesday, with local showers and isolated storms inland and over the mountains. No significant change on Wednesday, with rain mostly on Troodos.
Temperatures will significantly drop over the next two days.
