2002: Cyprus Problem – Clerides–Denktash talks resume. After a one-year break, talks resume between Glafkos Clerides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, and Rauf Denktash, Turkish Cypriot leader.

1952: Youth movement for Enosis (Union with Greece). British police violently disperse student demonstrations in Cyprus demanding union with Greece.

1944: Themistocles Dervis is appointed Secretary General of the Cyprus National Party (KEK).

From this date, he assumes full control of the party as its General Secretary.

2020: The international organization Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EastMed Gas Forum – EMGF or EGF) was founded by Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, and Palestine. Its headquarters are located in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
