Seven Arrested for Robbery and Drugs as 149 Traffic Offences Recorded

Police carried out coordinated overnight operations across Cyprus, resulting in seven arrests for offences including robbery, conspiracy following the commission of a felony and drug-related offences. A total of 149 traffic complaints were also issued during the checks.

The operations involved organised patrols at key points in urban areas, with the stated aim of preventing serious criminal activity, maintaining public order and enhancing the public’s sense of security.

Arrests and preventive actions

As part of the preventive policing operations, officers stopped 326 vehicles for inspection and checked 427 individuals travelling in them. In parallel, 32 premises were inspected in an effort to address incidents of unlawful activity.

Seven individuals were arrested for various offences, including robbery, conspiracy following the commission of a felony and drug-related offences.

Traffic enforcement and vehicle seizures

During traffic checks conducted overnight, 149 complaints were issued for various traffic violations. Among them were eight reports against drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol. A total of 109 alcohol tests were carried out.

As part of the investigations, seven vehicles were impounded.

Ongoing policing operations

According to the Police, coordinated operations aimed at the prevention and suppression of crime continue on a daily basis, with increased police presence, targeted checks and immediate operational response, with the objective of enhancing public safety and maintaining public order.
