The Cypriot government has activated its Special National Plan, ESTIA, following recent regional developments. The move is aimed at preparing for the possible reception and repatriation of foreign citizens from crisis areas through the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

The decision was made by the Ministerial Crisis Management Team, which includes the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Interior, and Justice and Public Order. The team acted in response to potential emergencies affecting the wider Middle East region.

At the same time, Cypriot diplomatic missions are closely monitoring the situation. They are focusing particularly on the safety of Cypriot citizens currently in the affected areas.

The ESTIA Plan is the official action plan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is designed to operate during emergencies or crises. The plan provides a structured framework for the safe evacuation of citizens from regions in conflict via Cyprus.

Officials have not specified which countries or regions may be involved. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged citizens abroad to stay informed through official channels and follow guidance from local diplomatic missions.
