Police carried out coordinated overnight checks across Cyprus, resulting in five arrests, 196 traffic reports and four vehicle seizures.
According to a police statement issued on Wednesday, officers stepped up patrols in key urban areas as part of a wider effort to prevent serious crime, maintain public order and strengthen public safety. During the operation, five people were arrested in connection with various offences, including illegal possession of property and assaulting police officers.
A total of 435 vehicles were stopped, while 518 drivers and passengers were checked. Police also carried out 24 inspections of premises, leading to four reports linked to breaches of operating licence conditions.
Traffic enforcement formed a major part of the operation. Police issued 196 reports for various road offences, including 93 for speeding.
Officers also carried out 72 alcohol tests, with one driver testing positive. In addition, nine preliminary drug tests were conducted, four of which returned positive results.
Four vehicles were seized as part of the ongoing investigations.
