Homes flooded in a number of areas across the country in the wake of thunderstorms that will gradually die down by the end of the day (Saturday).

The fire service responded to calls in three districts, according to spokesperson Andreas Kettis.

They involved four cases of water accumulation in businesses and basements at Nicosia suburbs, one incident of a flooded business and unblocking storm drains in Larnaca, as well as two in Famagusta for flooded businesses and basements.

Many urban roads became inundated, with local authorities also assisting in clearing out community areas.

There were no incidents in Limassol and Paphos, with the fire service remaining on alert, but indicating that problems are not of a wider scale, as there have been no other reports.
