Brussels paid a colourful tribute to Cyprus as the city’s beloved Manneken Pis appeared in a traditional Cypriot outfit, turning a busy corner of the capital into a small celebration of the island’s heritage. The wardrobe change, timed to coincide with Cyprus’ national day, highlighted the long-running tradition of dressing the 17th-century statue in costumes from around the world.
The ensemble -reflecting classic men’s folk attire with embroidered detailing, sash and vest- served as a playful but proud nod to Cypriot culture. Crowds gathered for the unveiling, snapping photos as the miniature “ambassador” of Brussels once again showcased the city’s openness to Europe’s diverse identities.
