Following the publicity generated by Xylofagou’s giant potato, other Cypriot communities are adopting similar ideas to showcase local identity through outsized installations of their signature products. Pissouri, in the Limassol district, is the latest to join in.

A new landmark for the village

The Community Council has commissioned and installed a large halloumi replica outside the village’s Multipurpose Cultural Centre. The site also hosts a newly completed museum that will be called the House of Halloumi.

Still a Work in Progress

The piece is not yet fully finished, with a few tasks remaining before completion. According to local information, the sculpture is a donation from a former community leader, which the council gladly accepted.
