Cyprus is often associated with beaches and summer heat, but the island has quietly built an impressive collection of outdoor parks and family-friendly spaces that offer far more than a day out. From botanical gardens and animal farms to adventure parks, sculpture trails and rope courses, Cyprus provides countless opportunities for children to play, learn and explore — and for adults to rediscover the island through fresh eyes.

If you’re looking to break routine and plan a meaningful outing with children, these parks offer experiences that combine fun, nature and local culture.

Botanical Gardens and Nature-Based Parks

CyHerbia Botanical Park & Labyrinth (Avgorou)

A family-run botanical park created out of a deep passion for herbs and plants. Opened in 2012, CyHerbia combines learning with calm exploration.

Visitors can wander through themed botanical gardens, explore Cyprus’ only large labyrinth, discover a forest shaped like the island itself and step into a fairy-themed area that children love. Beyond walking and play, the park offers hands-on experiences such as herb distillation demonstrations, herbal teas, homemade food and a small shop with organic products. Seasonal events, workshops and festivals add to its year-round appeal.

“Myristiko” Botanical Garden (Kolossi)

Located just steps away from Kolossi Castle, this small but fragrant botanical garden focuses on Cypriot herbs, organic vegetables and seasonal produce.

Families can stroll through herb beds, visit the drying and processing workshop, shop for local products such as teas, honey and liqueurs, and enjoy weekend markets or occasional storytelling and creative events. It’s an ideal stop for a relaxed, educational outing that connects nature with tradition.

Troodos Geopark & Troodos Botanical Garden

Set at an altitude of around 1,400 metres inside the Troodos National Forest Park, this botanical garden offers one of the most scenic learning environments on the island.

Through exhibitions, digital displays and a herbarium, visitors learn about the unique flora of the Troodos mountains. The surrounding landscape alone makes the visit worthwhile, while the visitor centre, educational films and walking paths provide a calm, enriching experience for families.

Animal Parks and Farms

Camel Park (Mazotos)

What began as a camel-focused park has grown into a full-day family destination with a wide variety of animals, including camels, ponies, llamas, kangaroos, ostriches and lemurs.

Children can enjoy camel rides, animal encounters, playground areas, bumper cars and trampolines. During warmer months, the park’s swimming pool offers a welcome break. The park balances entertainment with gentle education, making it suitable for a long, varied visit.

Golden Donkeys Farm (Skarinou)

A tribute to Cyprus’ rural heritage, this large donkey farm highlights the role donkeys once played in everyday life on the island.

Visitors can meet and ride donkeys, explore traditional structures such as a watermill and olive press, and visit a wax museum depicting old Cypriot professions. The farm also produces and sells donkey-milk-based products, from chocolates and ice cream to cosmetics.

Riverland Bio Farm (Kampia)

Spread across hundreds of acres, Riverland Bio Farm combines agriculture, animals and outdoor activities.

Families can participate in hands-on experiences such as milking, pony riding, archery, climbing, kayaking and even camping. On Sundays, visitors can learn how traditional Cypriot foods like halloumi, anari and bread are made. The farm shop sells organic dairy products produced on-site.

Apeshia Hills Donkey Safari (Apeshia)

Set on a hillside with panoramic views, this donkey farm offers slow-paced experiences focused on relaxation, tradition and nature.

Visitors can walk alongside donkeys, taste donkey milk and traditional products, enjoy Cypriot food and, weather permitting, swim in the pool. The site also includes small churches, children’s play areas and spaces for private events, making it a versatile destination.

Culture, Art and Outdoor Museums

Ayia Napa Sculpture Park

One of the largest open-air sculpture parks in the region, this cultural landmark features over 250 works by artists from around the world.

Set in a rugged natural landscape with panoramic views, the park invites visitors to explore art at their own pace. Benches, walking paths and the adjacent cactus garden make it suitable for relaxed, family-friendly exploration.

MUSAN – Underwater Sculpture Museum, Ayia Napa

A truly unique experience, MUSAN is an underwater museum created by renowned artist Jason deCaires Taylor.

Snorkellers and divers can explore a submerged forest of sculptures designed to interact with marine life and evolve over time. The museum blends environmental awareness, art and adventure, offering an unforgettable experience for older children and adults.

Adventure and Rope Parks

Sayious Adventure Park (Asgata)

An outdoor adventure park focused on teamwork, movement and mild adrenaline.

Activities include buggy routes, electric motorbikes, archery and paintball (for older participants). Most activities are group-based and require booking in advance, making it ideal for organised family outings or group visits.

Sparti Rope Park (Platres)

Hidden within the forest, this aerial rope park offers more than 40 routes of varying difficulty, suitable for ages two to adult.

With zip-lines, rope obstacles and strict safety measures, Sparti Rope Park is designed for confidence-building, physical challenge and safe adventure in nature.

Adventure Mountain Park (Kyperounta)

Located at the foothills of Troodos, this park combines outdoor sports with education and relaxation.

Visitors can enjoy paintball, climbing, laser games, forest puzzles, hiking and even camping. With on-site food and a botanical garden, it’s a full-day destination for families with older children.

Marina’s Adventure Park (Kakopetria)

Set beside the Karkotis River, this rope park blends adventure with natural beauty.

Routes are designed for different age groups, from toddlers to experienced climbers, while a climbing wall and family-friendly facilities round out the experience. On Sundays, traditional Cypriot food adds a welcoming local touch.
